One of the original Air Jordan 7 colorways is coming back in 2027, with the “Playoffs” pair expected to return as part of the model’s 35th anniversary. The shoe is also commonly called the “Dark Charcoal” or “Raptors,” though that last nickname came years after the original release since the Toronto Raptors didn’t exist when the colorway debuted in 1992.
Jordan Brand hasn’t brought this pair back very often. Its first retro release came in 2002, followed by another run in 2012, making the upcoming 2027 release just the third general retro of the colorway. A version was also included in the Air Jordan 7 DMP Pack from 2009, although that pair used stronger contrast between the charcoal sections and black overlays.
For 2027, the Air Jordan 7 “Playoffs” moves closer to the original 1992 construction. Dark Smoke Grey nubuck covers most of the upper with Black layered across the shoe, while red and purple accents bring back the familiar color combination. That differs from the 2002 and 2012 retros, which used darker, more uniform black uppers inspired by the pairs Michael Jordan wore during Chicago’s second championship season.
