Nike Unveils the Air Jordan 5 “Fab 5”

Published on

The Air Jordan 5 Fab 5 was originally unveiled by DJ Khaled and Mark Wahlberg. This exclusive Air Jordan 5 was inspired by Michigan’s Fab 5 team from the early ’90s. For those that can remember that squad, they are the ones to thank for bringing swagger to the college game. They eventually went on to become one of the most iconic teams in college sports.

Inspired by the Fab 5, Tinker Hatfield wanted to create a special shoe that celebrated that team and marks the start of a new era for the teams at the Jordan Brand and the University of Michigan.

Hatfield chose the iconic Air Jordan 5 as his canvas to celebrate the past and look to the future. The suede Maize upper creates a striking new look to the familiar iconic silhouette.

Two other classic Michigan references feature on the all-Black tongue with the ‘M” embroidered front, and “Hail To” and “The Victors” stitched on the inside of the left and right tongues respectively.

On the back heel features a specially created logo that depicts a graphic created by Hatfield that represents the ‘five times’ sign that the team occasionally used during their time at the school.

This execution of the Air Jordan 5 Fab 5 PE, a gift from Hatfield to the friends and family of the Jordan Brand will not be available at retail. Check out the detailed images below and let us know if this is the best Air Jordan 5 PE yet in the comments section.
