The Air Jordan 3 “True Blue” returns July 18, 2026, bringing one of the model’s original colorways back for the first time in nearly a decade. Official images show Jordan Brand leaning heavily into the 1988 design, complete with Nike Air branding, white leather and a more refined take on the shoe’s signature elephant print.

Last released in 2016, the “True Blue” has remained absent while several other classic Air Jordan 3 colorways cycled back onto shelves. The 2026 retro stays close to the familiar formula, pairing a mostly white upper with True Blue accents along the eyelets, collar, midsole and branding. Hits of red break up the blue-and-white layout, while elephant print wraps the toe and heel.

Recent Air Jordan 3 retros have placed greater emphasis on restoring the slimmer lines, shape and proportions found on older pairs. Based on the official photos, this version uses a thinner, less exaggerated pattern that sits closer to the look of the original release.

The Nike Air branding on the heel really solidifies that original look, a vital detail for a colorway so deeply connected to the Air Jordan 3’s roots, especially given how past retros featured different logos and a noticeably changed profile.

Tinker Hatfield’s design for the Air Jordan 3, launched in 1988, truly took Michael Jordan’s signature footwear to a new level. With its visible Air cushioning, distinctive elephant print, and the introduction of the Jumpman logo, the shoe developed a unique character that set it apart from its predecessors. Since its debut, the shoe has been a consistently reliable retro for Jordan Brand.

It also provided a nice contrast to the red, black, white and grey colors typically associated with Jordan’s Chicago Bulls era. With its blue touches, the sneaker managed to reach a wider audience, all while retaining the luxurious leather and distinctive paneling that made it special.

The Air Jordan 3 “True Blue” releases July 18, 2026, in full-family sizing through Nike.com and select Jordan Brand retailers. Men’s pairs will retail for $230.
