Sneaker Talk: Air Jordan 21 “Red Suede”

Published on

The Air Jordan 21 “Red Suede” remains one of the standout colorways from Jordan Brand’s 2006 lineup. Released on February 18, 2006, the pair arrived in a Varsity Red and Metallic Silver color scheme and carried a retail price of $180.

Designed by D’Wayne Edwards, the Air Jordan 21 pulled clear inspiration from the Bentley Continental GT Coupe. That luxury influence gave the model a more refined identity, setting it apart from many of the performance basketball shoes released during that era. On the Air Jordan 21 Red Suede, that vision came through in one of the strongest ways possible.

The upper used rich Italian suede in a bold red finish, giving the shoe a premium feel right away. Jordan Brand also worked in chrome accents and mesh detailing on the Phylon midsole, details that echoed the sleek lines and upscale materials associated with Bentley’s design language. The result was a basketball sneaker that felt both performance-driven and elevated.

Even in 2026, the Air Jordan 21 “Red Suede” still has not received a retro release. That has only added to the pair’s appeal among longtime Jordan collectors. For now, select sizes can still be found through resale platforms like StockX, keeping one of the model’s most memorable original colorways within reach.
