Jordan Brand created a special Air Jordan 2 “Olympic” PE for Carmelo Anthony during the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. At the time, Melo was fresh off his rookie season with the Denver Nuggets and already becoming one of the young faces of Jordan Brand.

Anthony wore the Air Jordan 2 during his run with Team USA, where he helped the squad leave Athens with a Bronze Medal. The pair kept things clean and patriotic with a white leather upper, reptile-embossed overlays, and navy detailing throughout. Classic Wings logos appeared on the tongues, while “MELO” branding on the heels made the pair personal to Anthony.
The Air Jordan 2 was an important model early in Melo’s Jordan Brand story. Not long after wearing pairs like this, he would go on to receive his own signature sneaker line.
This Air Jordan 2 “Olympic” PE never released to the public and remains one of Carmelo Anthony’s exclusive pairs. Still, with Jordan Brand often bringing back rare player exclusives from the vault, a future retail release is never completely out of the question.
