Air Jordan 16 “Board of Governors” PE From 2019 Surfaces

Jordan Brand’s “Board of Greatness” summit (previously called Board of Governors) is the company’s most clandestine affair. It’s not simply a seeding package or a new product reveal. It’s a rare, intimate gathering where Michael Jordan’s most trusted friends, athletes and collaborators assemble to bond over legacy and the future of the Jumpman. Every member takes home highly sought after pieces, but few compare to the exclusivity of the Air Jordan 16 “Board of Governors.”

Made exclusively for the 2019 summit, this Player Exclusive features top-notch construction and a subtle touch of luxury. Showcasing a quilted suede shroud in black suede with a matte nubuck toe box in lieu of the original patent leather, gold “BOG” stitching on the heel straps and a small bowtie stitched on the tongue, this model evokes MJ’s classic sense of style. A custom interior tag embroidered with “Exclusively Tailored for The Jordan Family — B.O.G. 2019” is another unique touch.

While there have been standard releases of the Air Jordan 16 that have paid homage to some of the shoe’s classic colorways over the years, this “Board of Governors” PE is one that’s not likely to ever be available to the public. The premium execution and the story behind this sneaker just make it so much more than a sneaker. This is a collectible that represents the crème de la crème of the Jordan Brand family, while also telling a story about Michael Jordan’s post-basketball career and influence away from the court.

The Air Jordan 16 “Board of Governors” PE will sadly never see a public release, making it one of the rarest modern-era Jordan designs of all time.
