The Air Jordan 10 “Double Nickel” takes us back to one of Michael Jordan’s biggest moments after returning to the NBA in 1995.

The nickname comes from Jordan’s 55-point game against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on March 28, 1995. He had only recently returned from retirement and was still wearing No. 45 at the time, which is why that number is embroidered near the ankle on this pair.

That detail is one of the main things that separates the “Double Nickel” from the standard retail versions of the Air Jordan 10 “Chicago.” The No. 45 had originally been seen on player-exclusive pairs made for Jordan, making the 2015 release feel much closer to what he actually wore during that stretch.

Released in March 2015, the shoe also brought back the familiar white, black, and red color scheme tied to the original “Chicago” look. Compared to the 2012 retro, the “Double Nickel” was viewed as a closer match to the 1995 version in terms of shape, materials, and smaller details.

Twenty years after that night at Madison Square Garden, Jordan Brand used the release to celebrate one of the first major performances of MJ’s comeback.
