Jordan Brand will be releasing an upcoming Air Jordan 1 Sports Illustrated colorway as a nod to Michael Jordan’s first Sports Illustrated cover during his rookie season with the Chicago Bulls – which was published on December 10th, 1984.

He was on there two times before, one in a North Carolina jersey and the other playing for Team USA.

This Air Jordan 1 features a White and Black leather upper paired with Red detailing on the Wings logo, tongue, and outlining the Swoosh logo. Highlighting the shoe is a striped pattern in Green tones on the Swoosh logo as a nod to the Milwaukee Bucks old jerseys, which was the team MJ was playing against on his first Sports Illustrated cover called, A Star Is Born.

Much like the “Rookie of the Year” Air Jordan 1, these include a detached layer around the customary ankle collar that reads “A Star” on one side and “Is Born” on the other. Below “Is Born” is the date Dec. 10, 1984.

Look for the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “A Star is Born” to release on December 27th at select Jordan Brand retailers and StockX. The retail price tag is set at $160 USD.
