Air Jordan 1 Mid Appears With Familiar “LA to Chicago” Theme

Published on

Jordan Brand continues leaning into its own design archive, and this upcoming Air Jordan 1 Mid “LA to Chicago” feels intentional rather than recycled. The pair revisits the fade-away concept first explored in 2019, translating it into a Mid-cut format with updated color balance and texture work.

Dressed in True Red, White, Court Purple, and Black, the upper delivers contrast without feeling loud. The ankle and heel panels feature a worn-in finish that nods directly to the original LA to CHI idea. Meanwhile, purple and gold accents across the forefoot quietly reference Los Angeles basketball culture.

Importantly, the execution feels more restrained than earlier versions. The Court Purple outsole recalls classic Nike Dunk tooling, which gives the shoe a grounded, lifestyle-ready base. Mismatched insoles add subtle personality, reinforcing the two-city narrative without overexplaining it.

While the Air Jordan 1 Mid often sparks debate, this release shows how storytelling can elevate the silhouette. The color fade works naturally here, and the materials appear chosen for longevity rather than shock value.

The Air Jordan 1 Mid “LA to Chicago” will release in Spring 2026 at select Jordan Brand retailers and Nike.com.
