Jordan Brand is returning to Día de Muertos in October 2026, and an Air Jordan 1 Mid will be part of this year’s collection. Like past releases tied to the Mexican holiday, the shoe looks beyond the usual seasonal colors and focuses on family, remembrance, and those who have passed.

The upper mixes Desert Dust, Particle Beige, Light Orewood Brown, and Terra Blush, giving it faded shades of pink, tan, and brown. Tumbled leather makes up portions of the base, broken up by speckled overlays that add a rougher texture. Around the Swoosh, decorative stitching replaces the more familiar straightforward finish.

Some of the most important details are easy to miss at first. A Xoloitzcuintli is pictured on the tongue and insoles, referencing the ancient Mexican dog breed closely connected to Aztec beliefs. Known simply as the Xolo, the dog was believed to accompany people through life and later help guide their spirits after death.

That same idea carries over to the box. Inside the lid, Jordan Brand printed “En esta familia nadie vuela solo,” or “In this family, no one flies alone.” It speaks to family and friends, but also the pets that were part of their lives. The usual Jordan connection to flight is still there, only here it’s being used in a different way, referring to the soul and what comes after life.

The Air Jordan 1 Mid “Día de Muertos” is expected to release in October 2026 as part of Jordan Brand’s larger Día de Muertos collection.
