The new Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 991 presents itself with a stunning cinematic reset. The vibe is serene, deliberate and decidedly chill. No flashy or “hypey” fare here, ALD and New Balance headed up north to document a wintry road trip across the frozen Oslo Fjord. The short film eschews the typical launch fodder from the jump.
Shot between Norway and Sweden, the project follows a custom Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance boat cutting through frozen water. The pace stays slow and deliberate. That restraint mirrors ALD’s recent design language, which continues to favor confidence over noise.
The film also introduces the second Made in UK Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 991. Early looks reveal a colorway shaped by nautical travel and winter light. Muted tones echo the surrounding sea and sky, while premium materials keep the execution grounded in New Balance heritage.
Teddy Santis has leaned into storytelling with this collaboration. Rather than dramatizing the conditions, the visuals highlight balance and purpose. That actually feels more in line with the 991’s original performance-focused DNA, dressed through a lens of lifestyle culture.
