For Spring/Summer 2019, adidas by Raf Simons explores the aesthetic clash between ’70s glam rock and mid-century haute couture – dual inspirations of the Belgian designer.
The hi-top, lace-up RS Detroit High is architected on the foundation of the Detroit Runner, a staple of the rang. The runners thick tread outsole and curvilinear midsole remain, while its canvas upper is traded for opaque, rubberized plastic – a nod to the fetish elements of glam rock. On the boots outer-shaft, Simons applies a “punkette” patch featuring a Black and White photograph of an anonymous woman within an art nouveau frame. Beneath it, a table printed with “Raf Simons Antwerp SS 2019” recalls the heyday of haute couture.
Available in three color combinations – Red/Black, Black/Pink and White/Grey – the shoe will release on January 24th at select retailers worldwide.
