The issue is that officials believe it is too close to branding already tied to Back9 Golf Apparel. Another name in the mix, The Back Nine Golf, reportedly uses branding that also raises similar concerns, making the situation even more complicated for Nike.

That puts Nike in a tricky position because shoes featuring Bronny’s logo have already been released, and more launches were expected to follow. A denied trademark does not automatically erase the branding from the public eye, but it does make long-term rollout plans much harder to lock in.

Nike now has two clear options moving forward. The brand can either go back and develop a new logo for Bronny James or attempt to resolve the matter through an agreement with the companies tied to the existing marks. For now, Bronny’s signature identity looks far from settled.
