Sneaker Talk: OVO x Air Jordan 12 “Black”

Drake’s work with Jordan Brand reached a high point in 2017, when the OVO x Air Jordan 12 “Black” was released. Dropped during NBA All-Star Weekend, this elevated rework of the retro silhouette was an expert distillation of the OVO look: simple, sleek, and ready to flex in understated style.

Coming a year after the “White” version, the “Black” colorway was a darker, moodier sequel. Black nubuck and textured, stingray-style overlays adorn the shoe, with a smoky translucent outsole stamped with a golden OVO owl logo on the underside. A hint of gold on the eyelets and the insole branding gives the shoe some luxe accents without sacrificing its stealthy color scheme. It was an impeccably thought-out drop – a pair of kicks for private jets, not hype lines.

Raffled exclusively at OVO stores in Toronto, New York, and Los Angeles, the OVO x Air Jordan 12 “Black” instantly became a grail piece with the added collector value of knowing you could only have gotten it through Drake’s retail partner. With limited supply and a strong celebrity-driven demand for Drake’s latest Nike collab, resale numbers for the shoe flew through the roof, making it one of the most valuable and coveted OVO x Jordan drops of all time.

Nine years later, the OVO x Air Jordan 12 “Black” still reaps a lot of currency. It stands as one of the quintessential lookbooks of sneaker luxury in the early-2010s, and the perfect package of streetwear, musical influence, and Jordan legacy.

Where To Buy The OVO Jordan 12

If you’re still on the hunt for a pair, they do occasionally pop up on resale platforms like StockX, but be ready to pay collector-level prices.

Pokémon x adidas 30th Anniversary Collection Releases Fall 2026

In celebration of Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary, adidas is reviving its partnership with the legendary franchise for an all-new Pokémon x adidas Collection arriving in Fall 2026. Uniting two cultural behemoths, the collaboration marks 30 years of Pokémon with a fresh array of collectible sneakers, clothing, and nostalgic design touches.

Following their 2020 collection, which featured Pokémon-inspired illustrations on classic adidas silhouettes such as the Advantage and Phosphere. Rumors indicate that this year’s collection, timed with Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebrations, will be bigger in scale — merging retro-inspired graphics with high-quality construction.

Early word suggests several core models will be leading the charge, including the adidas Samba, Superstar, and Adistar XLG 2.0. The latter is considered by many to be a lifestyle-friendly offshoot of Pharrell’s space-age adidas Jellyfish silhouette. Anticipate both adult and youth sizing to cater to OGs and a younger generation of trainers.

We haven’t seen any official images yet, but the partnership is expected to feature colorful character references, special edition packaging and collectible touches that pay homage to Pokémon’s global history. That’s the type of storytelling sneakerheads and gamers will appreciate.

History of Pokémon

Pokémon first emerged in 1996. Game creator Satoshi Tajiri took his childhood love for catching bugs and developed it into a series of blockbuster games for Game Boy. Fast-forward almost three decades, and Pokémon has maintained an unrivaled cultural impact via video games, anime, and more. Sneakers are the newest front in the Pokémon hype culture wars.

UPDATE 10/11/25: New photos of the Air Jordan 6 “Reverse Infrared” have surfaced, giving us a look at a silhouette that appears to feature design elements found on the original salesman sample. Emphasizing the “sample” aspect even further, the shoe also features real salesman sample tags, and stamped in the sockliner, we find the messages “Jordan Property Of ______” and “Not For Resale.” As always, the nostalgia factor of Jordan Brand going back to its early prototype sneaker days is huge and makes for a must-have piece for fans of the game and this time period. Presenting a colorway that is a reverse of the classic “Black Infrared” pairing, the “Reverse Infrared” will feature a smooth Black nubuck upper while Light Crimson is used to splash across the midsole, tongue logo, lace lock, and heel tab branding.

Jordan Trunner O/S “Light Orewood Brown” Brings Back Early-2000s Style

UPDATE 10/11/25: The “Light Orewood Brown” Jordan Trunner is now available on Nike.com.

Original Story 8/8/25:
Sporting an early-2000s heritage color palette with performance-minded updates, the Jordan Trunner O/S is back in a new “Light Orewood Brown/Phantom” colorway. It made its debut on Jalen Hurts during Philadelphia Eagles training camp. The chunky and running-inspired silhouette is a more daring option for Jordan Brand’s casual, everyday wear selection.

Made with a lightweight mesh upper, this sneaker also has premium suede overlays on the forefoot, sides, and heel. A molded midfoot cage that continues into the sole unit and functions as a stability shank is the shoe’s calling card. This provides the Trunner O/S with a robust structure, while also offering a strong lateral support point. For its part, the cream-toned midsole has sculpted elements. The textured outsole has been rendered in dark rubber and offers dependable traction.

Launched as a hybrid training shoe, the Trunner O/S was originally intended to straddle running and performance in the gym. For this iteration, the silhouette maintains some of its unique DNA, but does away with its more vibrant color blocking in favor of a more muted and street-ready aesthetic. Light Orewood Brown, Phantom, and Muslin tones comprise the Trunner O/S’s palette, making for a colorway that can work just as well for simple, everyday looks or low-impact workouts.

The Jordan Trunner O/S “Light Orewood Brown/Phantom” is set to drop on October 11, 2025 at select Jordan Brand retailers and Nike.com. Retailing at $115 USD.

Original Story 7/25/25:
This week at Eagles training camp, Jalen Hurts debuted in his upcoming Jordan Trunner O/S “University Red”.

Presenting a massive tonal red color palette and thick Y2K-inspired profile, the updated silhouette mixes utility and comfort with an off-season vibe that harkens back to Jordan Brand’s early aughts DNA.

“The University Red” colorway is as brash and confident as they come. Wrapping a breathable mesh base, suede overlays cover the upper while molded side cages and reflective accents provide structure and visual interest. Meanwhile, a thick and sculpted midsole provides tons of support, no matter if you’re getting your grind on or just grinding it out. Jumpman branding and “Jordan” text is strategically placed down the midfoot, without getting too in your face.

This is the fourth known colorway of the updated Trunner O/S, following the likes of “Cave Stone”, “Brown”, and “Pink”. With the release of this retro-future take, Jordan Brand continues its recent movement into out-of-time silhouettes that defy categorization.

Air Jordan 8 “Chrome” Returns Fall 2026

The Air Jordan 8 “Chrome” is officially returning in Fall 2026, almost 10 years after its last release. The sneaker, originally released in 2003 before making a comeback in 2015, is one of the most beloved colorways of the Jordan 8. This cool toned color palette perfectly fuses the early-2000s nostalgia of the AJ 8s retro silhouette with the premium materials and fit that modern Jordans are made of.

In true Air Jordan 8 fashion, the upcoming retro will come equipped with a high quality black nubuck upper with chrome colored hardware on the strap buckles and midsole. Shades of grey will also be used for the chenille tongue logo and mudguard accents. As for the trademark details, there will also be the classic cross straps and perforated overlays to inject the shoe with the signature ’90s hype that is synonymous with the Air Jordan 8. Every element on the “Chrome” colorway pays homage to the OG AJ 8s that helped Michael Jordan win his third consecutive NBA championship in 1993.

Although it was not an original colorway for the Air Jordan 8, these “Chrome” 8s quickly gained a cult following in the years since they first hit the market for their clean and timeless aesthetic that can be dressed up or down to complement just about any streetwear or court look. Expect the 2026 reissue of the “Chrome” 8s to be even more accurate to the OG in both fit and shape.
