The Nike SB Dunk has been through a lot of different releases since it first arrived in 2002, and the shoe is getting ready to turn 25. While Nike SB has spent much of this year working on the SB Air Force 1 and new P-Rod 1 colorways, there’s still something planned for the Dunk’s anniversary. A new “Champagne” pair has surfaced in official photos, complete with green patent leather, gold accents, and a few details taken from an actual champagne bottle.
The green patent leather is probably the first thing people will notice, especially with how shiny it looks across the upper. Gold shows up around the Swoosh and heel, matching the kind of foil you’d find wrapped around the top of a champagne bottle. Nike went with cork insoles as another reference, along with a small crest near the inside heel and gothic-style lettering. It’s a pretty direct take on the theme, right down to the materials.
Anyone who remembers the Air Jordan 6 “Champagne” from 2014 has probably seen a similar combination of colors before. That Jordan release also used green and gold, although the two shoes aren’t officially connected. Nike SB has a history of using Air Jordan color schemes on its Dunks through the J-Pack series, but this one appears to be its own take on the champagne bottle.
