Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is getting ready to move his signature shoe line from Converse to Nike, something very few players have done between brands under the Nike umbrella. Dwyane Wade made a similar switch from Converse to Jordan Brand in the late 2000s, although the circumstances were different. Wade’s move came during the height of his popularity, while Shai’s comes at a time when Converse has been struggling with sales. Michael Jordan is the other major name connected to signature shoes across Nike’s different brands.
The Nike SHAI 002 is expected to arrive sometime this NBA season, but there’s still another Converse SHAI 001 release coming first. The latest is called “Flare,” an orange colorway that fits right in with the Oklahoma City Thunder’s team colors. Shai actually showed off a version with Nike branding on the heel during NBA Media Day and has worn it in games since then. The pair releasing to the public keeps the usual Converse star and chevron logo on the back instead. Almost the entire shoe comes dressed in Flare orange, with the laces and inner lining providing the only noticeable breaks in color.
The Converse SHAI 001 Lace Up “Flare” drops October 29, 2026 for $120 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers. See official images below.
