Nike Ovolo 2.0 Brings Back the Shox-Inspired Sneaker Heel

Published on

Back in the mid-2000s, Nike put a Shox-influenced upper on a heel and called it the Ovolo. That lesser-known design is coming back as the Nike Ovolo 2.0, which appeared in the latest SNKRS Verified preview with a few changes from the original.

The squared tongue and small perforated area near the toe still borrow from the Shox R4, so there’s plenty of the old design left here. Branding is handled differently this time, with Swooshes embossed into the leather rather than attached separately along the sides.

The heel has been reworked with a larger gap between its support structure and the bottom of the shoe. A glossy finish gives that section a smoother look, while the construction aims to provide some of the springy feel associated with Shox. It takes a different route to get there, without using the usual arrangement of cushioning columns.

The Nike Ovolo 2.0 is scheduled to arrive in Black and Metallic Silver colorways during Holiday 2026. Both versions will release exclusively in women’s sizing. Check them out through Nike SNKRS.
