Landry Shamet Signs With Serious Player Only

Landry Shamet has decided to sign a multi year contract with Serious Player Only after trying out different shoe brands. He said he likes how they have a removable insole, which allows him to control how much cushion he wants.

Serious Player Only started in 2022, and much of the attention around its basketball shoes has been about the midsoles. Players can take them out and swap in different cushioning, rather than being stuck with one setup. The shoes are also lightweight, grip the court well, and have a lower ride that has led to comparisons with Nike Kobes. Shamet is one of the bigger NBA names the company has signed so far.

The deal comes after a big year for Shamet in New York. During the Eastern Conference Finals against Cleveland, he knocked down 11 of his 12 three-point attempts, shooting a record 91.7% from beyond the arc. His shooting helped the Knicks on their way to their first NBA championship in 53 years. New York also brought him back on a four-year contract over the summer.

Shamet is expected to wear Serious Player Only sneakers for the first time on October 20, 2026, when the Knicks open their season against the Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden. The team will also receive its championship rings and raise its banner before the game.
