Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had something unexpected on feet for Oklahoma City Thunder Media Day, wearing an unreleased Virgil Abloh Archive x Nike Air Force 1 Low in bright orange. It marks one of the more interesting pairs he’s worn since making the move from Converse to Nike.
Instead of using Media Day to bring out another SHAI 001 or preview the upcoming SHAI 002, Gilgeous-Alexander reached into a different part of the Nike catalog. His Air Force 1 follows the same general design seen on earlier Virgil Abloh pairs, which were previously released under the Off-White x Nike name.
Orange covers nearly the entire sneaker, lining up with the Thunder uniform Gilgeous-Alexander wore for the team’s photos. The familiar Air Force 1 shape remains underneath, while Virgil Abloh’s recognizable design details separate the pair from a standard release.
The appearance also gives an early look at what SGA’s new relationship with Nike could bring beyond his signature shoes. With access to the brand’s archive and unreleased projects, there should be plenty to watch for as he begins this next chapter with Nike Basketball.
It remains unclear whether the orange Virgil Abloh Archive x Nike Air Force 1 Low will eventually be available to the public or remain unreleased. A release date has yet to be announced.
