Nike Book 2 “Iron Fist” Draws From Detroit’s Joe Louis Monument

Published on

Devin Booker is bringing another piece of Detroit into his signature line with the upcoming Nike Book 2 “Iron Fist”. The colorway takes inspiration from the city’s famous Joe Louis monument, better known as “The Fist.”

Booker has worked plenty of Michigan references into his Nike releases over the years, and this pair continues that connection. The inspiration comes from boxing legend Joe Louis, who moved to Detroit as a child and developed into one of the sport’s greatest champions while calling the Motor City home.

The shoe specifically references the Monument to Joe Louis, the massive bronze fist sculpture located in downtown Detroit. That influence shows up through a metallic silver finish covering much of the Book 2, including the molded Foamposite-style shell that gives the upper its harder, almost sculpted appearance.

Most of the Detroit detailing is kept subtle from the outside. Inside, however, the insoles feature an all-over map of Detroit that brings the hometown theme into clearer focus.
