Community Poll: Should Jordan Brand Allow Sneakerheads to Design Upcoming Retros?

Published on

Sure we have NIKEiD, but that still doesn’t allow us to design our own Air Jordan Retro shoe. With a lot of negativity surrounding upcoming Air Jordan releases, do you think it’s time for Jordan Brand to actually have sneakerheads give their input on new colorways?

Who knows what the consumer wants more than the actual consumer, right? We all know that the classic “OG” Air Jordans will always sell, specially if you throw “Nike Air” branding on it. But lately these new colorways have been a bit of a let down – would you agree?

We live in an era where social media is king. Brands are actually allowing their fans to have more input on upcoming projects than ever before. So why can’t Jordan Brand follow by doing something similar.

I think it would be cool to hold some type of contest every year and have actual sneakerheads design an Air Jordan Retro shoe.

HOW WOULD IT WORK?

You would have those participating download a template online and begin with their design. After the entries are received, judges from Jordan Brand will select eight-to-six semifinalists. The public will then vote to name two finalists via social media. From there, judges will than select a winner and give them a grand prize.

WHAT’S THE GRAND PRIZE?

A trip to Nike world headquarters near Beaverton to be hands-on the design that they’ve created. Once that is completed, Nike will then give you an award that could include paying tuition for college for a year, or receive an “X” amount of dollars to shop at the Nike employee store – or something along those lines.

There you go, you have an Air Jordan that everyone wants and was actually designed by “us” the consumer. Release them with a matching apparel line, something similar to what Nike/Jordan Brand does every year with their Doernbecher Collection.

Let us know what you guys think in the comment section. Would this be a good or bad idea?
