Nike RISE Basketball 2014 China

This summer, Nike taps into the passion of aspiring young basketball players in Greater China with the 2014 RISE basketball campaign. Basketball-loving kids were invited to participate in the draft phase of RISE by submitting a 30-second basketball-themed video. Nike will invite a professional panel consisting of Wang Fei, Yi Jianlian and Chang Chun-Ning, to select the first 30 shortlisted players.

From July 21-25, LeBron James will be the first mentor to announce five of the 30 total players. He will visit Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Taipei and Kaohsiung to help players improve their performance and achieve breakthrough.

“Each basketball player has the wish of making progress every day. They are looking forward to Nike providing them with various opportunities to prove their potential. This year’s RISE is a new platform. Even you’re a beginner. Nike will help those who aspire to improve basketball performance realize the journey of rising to the top this summer,” said Simon Pestridge, VP Brand Marketing, Greater China. “In the meantime, Nike will launch the first social basketball reality show in Greater China to inspire players to get out on the court, make progress and break through.”

TRAIN WITH LEBRON AND KOBE: ALL WE WANT IS ALL YOU’VE GOT
Nike athletes LeBron James and Kobe Bryant will visit six cities in Greater China to help these young basketball players realize their journey of rising to the top.

After James’s tour, Bryant,will become the next mentor for RISE in the intermediary heat. From July 31 to Aug. 4, Bryant will stay in Shanghai to bring to the players for five days, and select 10 players from 30 for the Final.

The final will be held at Wukesong Basketball Park in Beijing on Aug 16. The three winners will be picked up from the final and participate in the Nike World Basketball Festival Sept. 5-7 in Barcelona, Spain. The multi-phased campaign will be live on the Internet as the first social basketball reality show in Greater China to inspire more young people with a passion for basketball.

NIKE RISE WILL BE THE FIRST SOCIAL BASKETBALL REALITY SHOW
The entire Rise journey will be broadcast on the QQ (nikerise.qq.com), Yahoo (Taiwan) and Fanpiece (Hong Kong): through Aug. 21. There will be one episode launched each week, with six episodes in total. Viewers will be taken along the exciting journey to experience the passion and aspiration on the court.

NIKE BASKETBALL LAUNCHES ON WECHAT IN CHINA
The official Nike Basketball Wechat was launched today. As the multifunctional platform of RISE, visitors to Wechat in China can participate in draft, stay updated with the latest news, and watch RISE video episodes. Nike Basketball Wechat provides basketball fans with the access to professional basketball training courses and first-hand information about Nike Basketball gear.
