Did you know Michael Jordan actually didn’t wear the Air Jordan 1 for the entirely of his rookie season? Instead, he began his rookie campaign in the Nike Air Ship.
Dating back to 1984, a Los Angeles Lakers ball-boy saw Michael Jordan wearing a White/Red colorway of the Nike Air Ship during warm-ups in December of 1984. Khalid Ali was only 15-years-old when he asked Jordan for his shoes.
It’s been over 30-years, and Khalid dusted off the pair and has listed them for bidding offers. Check out the video above as he tells his story of how he received the shoes in his own words.
UPDATE: 30 years later, Khalid was able to sell his Michael Jordan signed Nike Air Ship for over $71,000 USD. Check out the full video below as he tells his story on how he was able to get MJ to sign his shoe as a Lakers’ ball boy.
