Story-themed Air Jordan releases are one of the reasons why we all fell in love with Jordan Brand in the first place. Seeing Michael Jordan accomplish something while wearing a specific Air Jordan sold us enough to want to be like Mike, not to mention the dope original colorways of each release.
While the brand continues to release story-themed retros, they do at times put out colorways with not to much history behind the release.
Check out a few of the samples below and let us know what you guys think in the comments section after casting your vote.
Air Jordan 1 “Banned”
This Air Jordan 1 colorway was banned by the NBA because of rules regarding shoe colors; Jordan was fined $5,000 for every game he wore them (Nike gladly footed the bill, as the fines created even more buzz around the Air Jordan 1).
Air Jordan 3 ’88 “Slam Dunk Contest”
Michael Jordan wore the Air Jordan 3 at All-Star Weekend in 1988 where he won the Slam Dunk contest.
Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam”
The film Space Jam was when Michael Jordan debuted this Air Jordan 11, which it went on to be one of the most famous Air Jordan 11s. They were also spotted on the feet of MJ during the NBA playoffs.
Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game”
The Black/Red Air Jordan 12 known as the “Flu Game” Air Jordan 12s were worn by MJ during Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. During the game Mike had the Flu and overcame it to have a dominate game and getting the victory.
Air Jordan 14 “Last Shot”
MJ wore the this version of the Air Jordan 14 as he hit the “Last Shot” over Bryon Russell clinching the Bulls’ second three-peat and sixth NBA Championship.
